NOTE: This letter was written to an elder board faced with the difficult circumstance of an impending divorce.

To The Elders:

Dear Brethren in Christ,

It is with a great deal of personal distress and discomfort that I find myself called upon to comment in these most grievous circumstances.

All of the enclosed writings are submitted because of the urgent need of the hour. Please be assured that, although I may argue vehemently against divorce, I have no desire or intent to defame or denounce any person or group; however, the gloves are off and I speak plainly based on my sincere understanding of Scripture.

I write in the hope of II Cor 10:3 "For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses. We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ."

And so I ask your patience with my presentation, and your forgiveness where in my zeal I may have overstated a case. It is my great immediate concern for the <...> marriage and family in particular, and for the ongoing institution of marriage, the very mystery-image of Christ and His bride, that motivates me.

I welcome questions, interactions, and responses of whatever type. Wherein I may be wrong in my judgement, I am prepared to "take my licks" at the hand of a faithful Creator, administered through whom He will.

Please rest assured that I have been and continue to pray that God's wisdom may illuminate your every decision, strengthening you as you deal with this matter of such sober impact on your flock.

Very sincerely,

Dann McCreary
