Dear Family,

We had a good visit with Skylar, Chris, Jeff, and Suzanne last weekend. We left Wednesday night and spent Thursday through Sunday with them. When we got there very late Wednesday night, that little stinker was still awake waiting for us! His big brother Chris had been reading him Bible stories. Chris enjoyed a week at a Christian summer camp this year, and came home enthusiastic about reading his Bible and sharing his faith.

Skylar is doing about the same as far as his immune system goes; it is still weak, and Suzanne is carefully guarding him from public contact in order to minimize the likelyhood of his being attacked by cold, flu, or chicken pox which is going around. However, he seems to have abundant energy, I think at times much more than I do!

On Thursday, Pam and Chris and I enjoyed a visit with our son Jeff, Skylar's dad. On Friday the boys hung around the house while Nana and Mama went shopping. On Saturday Mama Suzanne visited Jeff while Nana, Papa, Uncle Chris, Chris and Skylar went for a nice drive over to the coast.

We had a picnic and played hide and seek in the park. We took a walk on the beach near Morrow Rock. We drove to Cambria, a lovely oceanside community, where we did some more walking and also looked around at some nice vacation style houses.

Sunday was a big day for Skye; we celebrated his 5th birthday. Four or five of his young friends (all checked for good health) came over for a party. Nana and Suzanne planned and executed a wonderful afternoon for Skylar. We enjoyed Pizza, Ice Cream, and Cake. We played party games. A good time was had by all.

Then <sigh> it was time for us to return home. When the realization struck Skylar that our departure was immanent, he clouded up; but Papa reassured him that Nana would return in less than two weeks, and that Papa wanted him to remember Who Made Everything and Children Obey Your Parents and that Jesus died for His people, and that Papa loves Skylar very, very much.

Skye walked out on the balcony to see us off. He waved goodbye. As we were walking to the car, we heard him yell "I love you very much!"

Thank you for your prayers. If you are able, please visit http://skylar.cjb.net to read the letter that Skylar wrote to you. If you don't have internet acess, send me a note and I will mail you a copy.

Love,

-Dann
