April 3, 2000 Dear Family, We are still here - it is Monday afternoon. Yesterday morning Pam and I took a little drive around the area in order to allow Skylar's other grandparents and his brother Chris to visit with him for a while. The ride was nice and somewhat restful. It was good to be outside of the hospital and not simply commuting or sleeping. When we arrived at the hospital, Skye's brother Chris and I went up to the playroom. Chris wanted us to make something for Skylar. Other kids were working on pictures made by cutting and gluing construction paper. Chris came up with the concept of "The Guys and Coco" - our dog Coco, of course, is Skylar's favorite dog. "The Guys" include Papa, Grandpa, Uncle Chris, Chris, and Skylar. The picture came out nice; in it, Chris is hanging upside down, Papa is holding a longboard, and Skylar is surfing on a surfboard with a rainbow. Yesterday evening Skylar started having more trouble with his breathing; they had to turn the vent back up somewhat overnight and this morning. We pray that this is just a small valley and that he will move in the right direction soon. It is so hard when a gradual improvement suddenly reverses; please keep praying, especially for definitive recovery in Skylar's lungs. I am encouraged by our Lord's parables in Luke that praise persistance. Yesterday I read about the man who needed bread at midnight, and who came and asked his friend. At first his friend refused because he was already in bed; but through persistant asking, his friend relented and gave him the bread. I persist in asking the Lord to heal Skylar, and I hope you will join me. Thank you all for your love, prayers, and letters. In Christ, -Dann (for us all)
